2020 Primary Analysis: 43rd Assembly District

The 43rd Assembly District falls entirely within the boundaries of Los Angeles County. Laura Friedman (D) is the incumbent in this race. Friedman has held the seat since 2016.

This district shows the following party registration for the three largest political groups (the source is http://www.l2political.com):

Republican- 18.7%
Democrat- 47.4%
NPP- 28.7%

Friedman drew no opponents in 2018 and ended up getting a free pass on both June and November.

In 2020, Friedman did not have the same luck and drew both a Republican and NPP opponent. Here are the March 2020 results:

Laura Friedman (D)- 75.6%
Mike Graves (R)- 20.7%
Robert Sexton (NPP)- 3.6%

We will now see a match-up between Laura Friedman (D) and Mike Graves (R). Friedman is the elected incumbent and Graves is a small business owner.

This race is a very partisan one. I predict that Laura Friedman will win in November.
